My work on the ethics of data visualization relates to dis/mis-information.
Through this work I highlight how data processes, including machine learning, can result in visualizations that misinform and harm users/viewers. I have one paper just out on this subject:
Racism in the Machine: Visualization Ethics in Digital Humanities Projects
http://www.digitalhumanities.org/dhq/vol/12/4/000408/000408.html
and another forthcoming:
A Panopticon on My Wrist: The Biopower of Big Data Visualization for Wearables
Design and Culture (forthcoming)
I’m happy to talk more on the subject off-list.
