British Music Collection Study Day
Heritage Quay, University of Huddersfield
Friday 5 April, 10:00-4:00
Guest speaker (12:00): Prof Richard Steinitz
Music researchers and performers (including students!) are invited to the second British Music Collection Study Day, showcasing the University of Huddersfield's unique contemporary music collections, including the entire former collection of the British Music Information Centre and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival archive. These study days are a great way of exploring the 60,000+ scores and recordings held in Heritage Quay's archives, as well as getting advice from archive staff and meeting other researchers. Bring some research queries and you will be assisted in identifying and accessing relevant materials, which you can study on the day and/or on return visits.
We are especially delighted that the day will feature a guest speaker, Professor Richard Steinitz, founder of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Richard will speak at 12:00 about the Festival's archive and its potential for future research. There will also be free tea and coffee, and a tour of our strongrooms so that you can see the collections in situ.
There's no need to book in advance, just turn up at any time on the day. For any queries, please contact Dave Smith at Heritage Quay [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. You can peruse the catalogues in advance here: http://heritagequay.org/archives/BMC/ and http://heritagequay.org/archives/HCMF/.
Hope to see you there!
Robert.
