Upon the completion of term of the current External Examiner in September 2019, Ulster University, Northern Ireland, seeks expressions of interest for the position of External Examiner for their FdSc Applied Industrial Sciences programme, delivered by a partner FE College and validated by the University. This part-time 2 Year, 6 Semester programme forms the academic basis for a Higher-Level Apprenticeship [HLA] and is delivered in collaboration with three large pharmaceutical companies. The partner college is Southern Regional College and the programme is run at their Newry and Portadown campuses. Both sites are easily accessible from the Belfast Airports, as well as from Dublin.
The University will reimburse reasonable expenses for attending the annual Board of Examiner’s meeting, held in September each year, and would be pleased to arrange travel and overnight accommodation if required, as well as providing payment of an External Examiner fee.
As a minimum, External Panel Member nominees should have:
• Current knowledge of working in UK Higher Education.
• An understanding and experience in teaching and assessing UK academic programmes at levels 4 and 5 (Foundation degree) - HLA experience is especially welcome
• Knowledge of the subject area of Science, especially that related to the pharmaceutical industry
• Membership of the HEA.
