Good morning mailbase
As the Biochemistry Laboratory Manager for North Kent Pathology Service I would like to say that the last 9 months have been tough. A decision was made to merge services and nobody was more disappointed than me at the incidents that occurred as a result but we have all worked very hard to improve performance and prove that it did not reflect the true picture of our service. Having our accreditation suspended in October was a particular low point having worked in the Medway lab for 16 years and never being in this position before. The work that everyone has put in to regain accreditation whilst maintaining a quality service is testament to the dedication and commitment of the staff.
Yesterday we had confirmation that we have had our accreditation reinstated after submission of evidence to address the non-conformances.

Subject: "Nearly 3,300 patients in 'harm review' for merged service"
HSJ article, probably paywalled.
"The Royal College of Pathologists has been called in to review a merged pathology service which has had to recall thousands of patients for repeat blood tests.
The North Kent Pathology Service, which carries out work for both Dartford and Gravesham Trust and Medway Foundation Trust, has recalled 3,292 patients since June 2018 when non-urgent blood services were centralised."
