I know I have to address the issue of Ulm’s closure as a witness for a good part of its existence.
Incidentally the Ulm School lasted a year longer than the Bauhaus. Their short lives is characteristic of many avant-garde institutions that run against their respective establishments. I do not think this is necessary, but an unfortunate consequence of being ahead of its times
The papers that have been circulating on this list are third hand sources of second hand sources and far removed from my first hand experiences.
I promise to respond to some remote generalizations as soon as I can.
