I would like to bring to your attention the new short course in Health Econometrics and Policy Evaluation being run by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care at Oxford University on the 28th of March, 2019. Please feel free to circulate this message among your students and colleagues.
Economics and Econometrics Analysis for health policy evaluation
This one day course will serve as an introduction to the concepts and principles in the economics of health and health care. It will provide an in-depth understanding of the tools used by health economists to address the most pressing issues of health policy. Econometric techniques to evaluate public health interventions and policy will be used.
Aimed at PhD, MPhil and MD students, researchers, public health trainees and professionals, practitioners, managers, CEOs interested in pursuing a high-stake career in the field, this programme provides an introduction to the central issues in health economics and health policy.
Course content: basic health policy and economic principles and distinction between health and health care. Nature of health care as an economic commodity. Incentive mechanisms and principal-agent relationships in health care. Hospital competition. Economic analysis evaluation.
