Not sure how that would work when a candidate would have multiple candidate numbers per series per exam boards .......

Hi Sarah.
I have raised this question with them before and they did confirm that the students' candidate numbers will not be embedded in the UCI.
ProSol will create the UCI number according to the rules of combination ie centre number, year, check letter etc, however when it gets to the 4 digits where the candidate number should be, it will set its own according to however many it has generated before ie, 0001, 0002 and so on.
We normally try to use the candidates' UCI from school but for those we have to generate, I usually do it manually by entering the details in the spreadsheet from OCR to generate the check letter at the end.
Hope that makes sense?
Kind regards.

Subject: ProSolution help
Hi all,
I just wondered if anyone that uses ProSolution has come across this query regarding the generating of UCI numbers…
We’re just about to send our first batch of GCSE Summer 2019 exam entries and when we’ve gone to generate our new candidates with 4 digit candidate numbers and UCI numbers in the exam wizard, we’ve noticed that the candidate numbers in question aren’t embedding within their generated UCI numbers:
Example: Aaron Smith – candidate number generated 0001 and he’s been given UCI number 204820180009H – usually it would be 204820180001H
I’ve worked in Exams for 13 years and my understanding of UCIs is that the centre’s candidate number has always made up part of the UCI number, please see attached.
When we’ve contacted ProSolution they seem surprised by this embedded number and another contact there has said their system doesn’t allow it - they’ve also said it has never been brought up by other centres that use it for sending entries.
Although it’s not essential that it embeds, I am just surprised by this and we’ve found it useful/logical that it does link up. Has anyone else had the same issue?
Thanks and kind regards,
Sarah Pooley
