Dear colleagues,
Thank-you to everyone who voted in the new poll. 66 votes were cast in the new poll, the same number as in the original poll. The poll asked voters to rank what they consider to be the most important issues confronting the PHD-Design list currently.
Result:
1. Marginalization of women’s views in discussions
2. Exclusion of diverse epistemological views in discussions
3. Intolerance of diverse cultural views in discussions
4. Prejudice toward topics of most interest to those list members of high academic rank
5. Insufficient discussion of topics relevant to PhD studies in particular
6. Harmful effects of narrow interests on the quality of argumentation
7. Harmful effects of careless reasoning on the quality of argumentation
8. Excessive posting of irrelevant information
The results of the new poll are here:

The results of the original poll are here:
https://civs.cs.cornell.edu/cgi-bin/results.pl?id=E_eb7cca135a737227
The results of the two polls are similar.
I would be happy to hear list members thoughts on the results, the merits of the polls, the implications for the future of the PHD-Design mailing list.
Best,
Luke
