The department is located in a modern, open plan, purpose-built laboratory. As part of Managed Service Contract, all equipment within Automated Core and Specialist Investigation sections were refreshed in 2014 including state of the art pre-analytical solutions.
NHS Fife are looking for an experienced Clinical Scientist to join the Department and take the lead in developing the future direction of the Clinical Biochemistry service. The department has a comprehensive repertoire, which is UKAS accredited (ISO:15189) and provides a 24/7 consultant and advisory service.
Supported by two Principal Grade Clinical Scientists, the successful applicant will be expected to participate and lead in all aspects of the service, including clinical liaison, strategic management and service development, teaching and training. The Department has close ties with the University of St Andrews and runs an honours module in Clinical Biochemistry for 4th year honours students. The department also supports innovative practice and research with NHS Fife currently participating in nationally funded qFIT testing in patients with lower bowel symptoms and NHS Scotland Improvement collaborative for Acute Kidney Injury.
Applicants must be an HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist, hold the FRCPath and have an MSc and/or a PhD in an area of Clinical Biochemistry. A broad range of experience in Clinical Biochemistry is essential along with a proven scientific and professional record, clear leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
