As predicted it was quick meeting today, with Steve being the driving
force behind the dicussion. I've pasted the minutes (as I scribbled them
down) below - I forgot to take note of who was actually in the meeting.
Cheers!
Matt
Attending: Vip, Chris B, Steve, Darren, Winnie, Brian, John H, Gareth,
possibly others I forgot.
Steve asked about the theme of the next GridPP meeting.
Vip reminds us of the planned hackday.
Steve asks if anyone has on CentOS 7.5 & VAC- it's lousy! Lots of
task-blocked messages running VAC.
John has seen similiar on other OSes - CSM daemon time outs. Andrew has
been informed, and John rolled back to SL6 and VAC 3.
Steve not seeing same problems with 7.5 on their condor cluster.
Gareth - Running C7.4.1708 and not seeing any problems with VAC3.
Steve will explore what's going on.
John warns that VAC3 will not cleanly install on SL6 out of the box due
to a dependency error.
Gareth asks how much memory per VM? Glasgow has a lot of memory on their
nodes. Steve is running up against the memory limit. Steve is having
some success by reducing the number of VMs per machine.
Glasgow has held off upgrading their C7 kernels due to stability concerns.
Winnie lauded the cooling upgrades Bristol had a few years ago - worth
the pain of the downtime back then to have zero problems in this weather.
Went over bulliten - only one section updated - Security. Matt
apoligised for not getting round to doing the tickets this week.
No atlas or lhcb rep present, quickly went over Daniela's CMS update in
her mail. Called the meeting at 11.25.
