Dear community,
Can I pick your brains? Your suggestions *will be acknowledged if used*. I'm presenting at the conference on Imaginary Musicians that takes place in Amsterdam at the end of November, 2018. My paper concerns imaginary female composers, a category that, well, stretches the imagination, or measures its limits. (I guess that's my point, and my paper was triggered by the fact that all the examples of imaginary musicians in the call for papers were male). I have a handful of examples in mind to use, from my chosen historical site (the decades either side of 1800), but would like to be able to provide a more wide-ranging list of examples. Do you know of any literary, critical, cinematic, pictorial etc examples you would be prepared to share? If so, perhaps you would reply to this message? If you reply through the list, this will preserve in writing the fact that the suggestion was yours, and so make it possible for me to cite the thread. (Obviously, I am aware of some examples, so you'd have to trust me that I will cite you in the event that I wasn't already aware of the case). Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise and thoughts. I'll let you know how I get on! With best wishes, Matthew Head (KCL)
