The University of Leuven is excellently located just 30 km from Brussels, and is one of Europe's leading research universities. Founded in 1425, it is also the oldest university in the Low Countries. Distinguished alumni include Desiderius Erasmus, Juan Luis Vives, Andreas Vesalius, and Gerardus Mercator.

The position, which begins on 1 October 2018, or as soon thereafter as possible, is attached to a research project focussing on the Leuven Chansonnier, a fifteenth-century songbook that surfaced at an auction-house in Brussels at the end of 2014, and that is now deposited with the Alamire Foundation in Leuven's Park Abbey. The project is directed by prof. dr. David Burn, and funded by the University of Leuven Special Research Fund.
Applications are welcome from candidates who hold, or who are about to complete, a Master's degree in musicology or other relevant field. * A letter of recommendation, sent under separate cover
The application and letters of recommendation should be addressed to prof. David Burn, at [log in to unmask], and should to be received no later than 10 August 2018.
Prof. Burn may also be contacted for further particulars and informal enquiries.
