Dear All,
I am a first year Trainee Clinical Biochemist at the Royal London Hospital looking to secure an elective placement in Australia. The elective placement would be a period of 4-6 weeks and aims to provide a wider experience of healthcare and/or the practice of Healthcare Science in a cultural and/or clinical setting that is different from the usual training environment. Areas of work I would be interested in getting involved in include: inborn metabolic diseases, toxicology, endocrinology and oncology.
The elective is an essential component of the Scientist Training Programme and will enable me to work towards becoming a registered Clinical Scientist. During my placement I am expected to participate in an audit or research project, which would also provide benefit to the host laboratory.
I’d be most grateful to hear from anyone who can offer me a placement, advice, or further contacts.
Best wishes
Jack Whitewood
