Dear all,
I've just finished writing an essay in which I used the following
definition of design; I admit it's somewhat awkwardly phrased, but for what
it's worth:
"Design is the form of human intelligence (materialised in a set of
disciplines) that creates the artefacts that shape the artificial world in
which people live."
This definition presupposes a broad understanding of artefact to include
non-material creations.
All the best,
--
