Hi Lubomir
I too do not want to be extreme. But my view on surveys is driven by both argument and evidence of a technical kind. When I said:

I was using the term ‘validity’ in a technical sense: does the survey measure what it claims to measure? The evidence suggests that we do not know and cannot know the answer to this question in far too many cases. There is no problem with survey reliability or sensitivity, again using those terms in a technical sense.
Having said that, I have no doubt that surveys will continue to be used, sometimes from the best of possible motives.
On the rest, we probably need to agree to differ.
Warm wishes from Cold Melbourne.
