Subject: The persistent problem of emailing everyone on the list unintentionally
Dear List members,
Sorry for the endless emails on this topic, but I am posting this message as we continue to have a persistent problem of emailing everyone on the list unintentionally :-(
To briefly explain, the issue is that when you click 'Reply' to a message it will as a default send a reply to the whole list and the person who posted the message. I have checked the JISCMail manual and this is the default setting. The ONLY other options are that a reply goes only to the person who posted the message or the whole list (or both).
As the purpose of an email list is to allow group communication, I did not think it would be helpful if a reply only went to the person who posted the message.
A suggestion from a colleague was that we might try using a header to remind everyone of this issue (thanks Rob!).
So I have instigated this using one of the templates available on JISCMail.
This is an experiment to see if it works. It may also have unintended consequences (who knows :-).
All feedback gratefully received.
Happy communicating everyone!!
Geoff
