About the opportunity
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A)
to join our research team working on Postdoctoral Research Associate in
Astrophotonics, School of Physics, at the University of Sydney. The
candidate will take a leading role in a research project devoted to
developing advanced photonic technologies that will drive new generation
instrumentation for astrophysical discovery. The exquisite control in the
manipulation of light afforded by photonic technologies allows completely
novel architectures to be brought to the service of astronomical
measurement. This position requires interdisciplinary skills spanning
astrophysics, instrumentation, computer control and numerical algorithms
implemented in custom software in order to interpret the resulting data.
Research will be conducted in the world class Sydney Astronomical
Instrumentation Laboratories (SAIL), with expected final deployment of
working instrumentation with project partners at the Subaru Telescope in
Hawaii.
