I didn’t follow the earlier discussion so apologies if this is irrelevant. I’m assuming the discussion is not about the definition of "concept," per se, but rather is about the definition of "concept" in the context of design. Again, sorry if I’m wrong about that.
It is not always clear to me what constitutes a design idea or a design concept but common parlance in my part of the world would not call "space" or "interactability" as used above "concepts" (or at least not in the sense of "design concept.") Each designer who might design the interior space of the building would, in at least one sense, have the same space. We would hope they would have different design concepts.
Arbitrary examples: Jack’s concept for the interior space of the building focused on continuing reflections of the circular fountain at the entrance. Jack’s concept for the interior space of the building was sightlines broken by translucent cloth with back projections that would provide navigation and promotional messages. Jill’s concept for the interactability of the user-interface was that the interface would change based on the user’s initial choices, creating a customized world. Jill’s concept for the interactability of the user-interface was that the elements would jiggle vigorously as the cursor approached a choice that Jill disapproved of. . .
In that sense, design concepts might tie together a series of formal choices or set up functional restraints, etc.
