I now return to "lurking" mode.
I believe one of the negative features of this mailing list is the endless
debates that go on and on and on, with little added clarity after the first
few interactions.
My normal interaction with this list is not to compound the responses. So
I now go back to my normal role of reading the posts, but not commenting
unless I feel I have something novel to add. In this partiocular case, I
see that the debate can continue for a long time. However, I have stated my
case several times and I have nothing more I to add.
My self-imposed rule is this: Primarily write about completely new items.
Respond once, if I feel it necessarily. Otherwise, I just sit back and
smile. Let the debate go on without me. If everyone followed this rule, the
debates might be more productive and less personally vindictive.
It is time for me to shut up. Please continue the debate, but whether you
praise or heap scorn upon me, I will simply read and smile.
