I am not familiar with the Routledge volume, however, I have often referred to this one, which is based on the first CSCW (Computer Supported Cooperative Work) papers on this topic - Douglas Schuler and Aki Namioka. 1993. Participatory Design: Principles and Practices. Hillsdale, NJ: Lawrence Erlbaum. It's dated now, but still valuable - even if just for a perspective on how the thinking has evolved in the last 20 years.
