Applications are invited for a Band 7 Senior Clinical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry at Barts Health NHS Trust to join a team of clinical scientists (3 senior, 2.6 principal and 1 consultant), 4 STP trainees and a consultant chemical pathologist. The post-holder will participate in the development, verification and validation of assays and experience of LC-MS/MS is desirable. The post-holder will also participate in the duty biochemist and clinical authorisation rotas and be supported in their pursuit of part 1 FRCPath. The post will be based at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive department, housed in modern laboratories, and in the process of implementing a managed service contract to provide state of the art instrumentation and offering a number of specialist services. Barts Health operates a hub (Royal London) and spoke (Barts, Newham, Whipps Cross) model and recently completed implementation of a single LIMS and care record system. Barts Health is the biggest NHS teaching trust in the country and has key specialist areas including trauma, cancer, cardiac, endocrinology, renal and neurology. The clinical biochemistry department forms an integral part of the Clinical Support Services Clinical Academic Group and is developing and advancing a comprehensive clinical diagnostics service including areas of specialisation.
The applicant must be HCPC registered as a clinical scientist in biochemistry (or within 12 months of achieving this) and have a proven scientific and professional record.
