As an alternative, "academic outsourcing" might be preferable. The term 'outsourcing' being considered potentially condoning by Irene is a real concern, but as a lifelong union supporter, the term is definitely NOT a positive in my mind, being a neutral word that can have good and bad use, like the term 'quality'. Is 'outsourcing, worse than the pejorative "cheating", which reflects (for me at least) a FAR worse attitude? TBH I'm seriously concerned that such language is justified with the idea we should not send the wrong message. Historically, it's not as bad as "useless eater", but still heavily weighted, because it shapes our (academic) thinking into "us and them". We've moved in from 'plagiarism' to 'academic integrity', but more needs to change.
