Archives Sector News June 2017
New Minister for Arts, Tourism and Heritage
John Glen MP has been appointed as the new Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Arts, Heritage and Tourism. His portfolio will include day to day responsibility for The National Archives, including their role as leaders of the archives sector in England. We look forward to working with him, and introducing him to our vision for the future of the archives sector, Archives Unlocked. Many thanks to the previous Minister, Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, who was very supportive of our ambitions for the sector, and spoke at the launch of the document in March 2017.

Do your volunteers or Friends Group fundraise for your archive service? Or would you like them to start thinking about it? This event is a chance for Friends and volunteers from different services to come together, share their experiences and hear about fundraising best practice from peers who have been successful at generating income for their archive. The day includes case studies presented by 3 archive services alongside their Friends/volunteers and a workshop on advocating for the archive.
Kind Regards
