The current -Chronicle of Higher Education- has an article that is interesting in light of some of the discussions on this list: "Does It Pay to Be Published in 'Predatory' Journals?"
Unfortunately, it is behind a pay wall so I can’t send a direct link. Many of you can get to it through your university’s library.
Derek Pyne, an associate professor of economics at Thompson Rivers University, in British Columbia tracked the publishing of the 38 faculty members at his business school. He concluded that publishing in predatory journals didn’t seem to harm careers and publishing in high quality journals correlated with slightly lower pay rates.
As they say on car commercials: Your mileage may vary.
