The Music Department at the University of Southampton will host Professor Peter Schubert (McGill University) on 2 and 3 May, for our third Hartley Residency of the 2016-17 academic year. The residency will include the following formal events, to which musicologists and musicians are warmly invited:

* Wednesday 3 May 2017, 14:00-15:30, Room 6/1077: Postgraduate practical symposium on improvisation practices in the Renaissance. Presenters: Marcello Mazzetti, Livio Ticli, Eric Thomas. Chair: Elizabeth Kenny.
* Wednesday 3 May 2017, 16:00-17:30, Room 6/1077: Roundtable: 'Improvisation in the Renaissance'. Panellists: Jeanice Brooks, Elizabeth Kenny, Peter Schubert, Laurie Stras. Chair: Mark Everist.
