Brown University, 305 Pembroke Hall, 172 Meeting Street
This is the second conference of the Leverhulme-funded ‘Reimagining Italianità: opera and musical cultural in transnational perspective’ network, based at University College London. The network—which is split between University College London, University of Cambridge, University of Campinas (Brazil), and Brown University—has invited participants to reflect on the use, translation and transposition of Italian opera into other media, settings, and cultural contexts during the 19th century and after. The conference will feature nine 20-minute papers, a concert-lecture from pianist Emanuele Ferrari, and a final roundtable discussion. Graduate students from Brown and the other participating institutions will provide responses to the paper presentations.
If you are interested in attending the conference and knowing more about the work of the network, please contact network administrator Dr Alexander Kolassa ([log in to unmask]). Further details can be found on our website (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/centre-transnational-history/research-and-publications/re-imagining-ita) and via our Twitter account (@Re-imagining_Ita).
