Hmmmm! On Friday there was a remarkable consciousness sent out to the list, which was
- to put it charitably - not altogether related to teaching linguistics. Perhaps an
interesting text for analysis??
Typically with this sort of thing I contact the account holder to see if their
account has been compromised or something; but this person had joined the list the
same day and this was their first message. Clearly just a spammer. I've deleted their
account now. Swift justice.
And I would have acted on this sooner but the message just went straight to my spam
box, as did the reply to the list from Carrie! (You may not have seen it yourself for
the same reason.) The message will have been spammed round to various lists, so the
text itself had probably been flagged by various spam registries. That's why I've
made a new message here instead of replying to the original. Thankfully another
member contacted me separately about it so I got wind of it then. If something like
this happens again in future, please do feel free to contact me that way too.
Stay safe out there folks!
Dave
