This is a call for music lovers - audiences, musicians, venues, and
promoters - to get involved in a new research project funded by the Arts
and Humanities Research Council. (Apologies for any cross-posting.)
The first ever UK Live Music Census launched on 9th March with snapshot
censuses taking place in cities across the country. We got *fantastic
coverage* of the event, including BBC Breakfast
<http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08h31rv/breakfast-10032017>, Radio
4’s Today programme <http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08gwfyn>, Channel 4
News
<https://www.channel4.com/news/working-to-prevent-the-death-of-live-music-venues>
, The Guardian
<https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2017/mar/08/when-did-you-last-hear-live-music-uk-live-music-census>,
and much much more <http://uklivemusiccensus.org/press/>!
A *nationwide online survey* for musicians, audiences, venues, and
promoters, is open and collecting data until May.
We need people from all over the country to complete the survey, with a
particular focus on the snapshot cities of *Brighton, **Glasgow,
Leeds, Newcastle,
Oxford, and Southampton*. Please encourage your friends, colleagues and
students to complete the surveys to have their say about their relationship
with live music in their locale.
One lucky survey respondent will *win an iPad!* (T&Cs apply
<http://uklivemusiccensus.org/#prize>).
*For more information and to start filling out the survey(s), please go to *
*http://uklivemusiccensus.org/* <http://uklivemusiccensus.org/> and click
the relevant button (venue, promoter, audience, musician).
Do also please tell everyone about the Census via social media (Twitter
<https://twitter.com/ukmusiccensus>, Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/ukmusiccensus/>, Instagram
<https://www.instagram.com/ukmusiccensus/>) using the #ukmusiccensus
hashtag.
The Census is being co-ordinated by researchers at the Universities of
Edinburgh, Newcastle and Glasgow, in partnership with Musicians' Union,
Music Venue Trust and UK Music, with affiliates at BIMM, Leeds Beckett
University and Southampton Solent University.
Apologies for any cross-posting.
