Dear Sarah,
Thank you for opening up this debate. We are animals of agony - If only I
could have talked with Emily Dickinson - if only I had more time to spend
with my grandchildren.
Might I suggest that people preface their postings to the group if they
feel uncertain about how their post might be approached.
That is, for example, I might post with a heading that says PROVOCATION -
which would indicate that I might get a storm of replies.
Or, I might preface INQUIRY - we have seen several that are INQUIRY posts
in the latest cycle of posting
Or, Of POSSIBLE INTEREST - the post I made about China and ball point pens
is like this.
Many working connections are made thru the group and I would encourage
people to make off-list postings when they feel it more useful to discuss
in a less public way.
We all like to be corresponded with - a meeting of minds is an
extraordinary thing.
When the meeting breaks down we all experience a loss.
