School of Languages, Linguistics and Film
QMUL Principal's Postgraduate Research Studentships
The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film invites applications for
Research Studentships open to UK, EU and international students.
Studentships will be awarded in March 2017 to the most highly qualified
candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences applying for a
full-time PhD programme starting in September 2017. In order to be
considered for an award, applicants should have (or expect to have by
the end of the 2016/17 academic year) an MA or equivalent qualification.
Awards are tenable for up to three years and cover tuition fees and a
maintenance allowance of £16,296 per year. Subject to funding
arrangements, holders of research studentships will have the opportunity
to teach up to 4 hours per week in the second and third years of their
study.
We welcome applications in Film Studies, particularly in an area that
will strengthen research into film philosophy, film cultures, and/or
film practice as research. We are particularly interested in any
projects that fit the general theme of film and ethics.
Potential supervisors in the Film Department at QMUL include: Lucy
Bolton, Jenny Chamarette, Ashvin Devasundaram, Charles Drazin, Steven
Eastwood, Janet Harbord, Sue Harris, Alasdair King, Anat Pick, Libby
Saxton, Guy Westwell.
Film Studies at QMUL hosts the new research hub, the Centre for Film and
Ethics.
Prospective students are advised to identify a potential supervisor to
discuss their proposed research with prior to submitting a formal
application. For further information on finding a supervisor in Film
Studies, please contact Dr Alasdair King ([log in to unmask]). For
