Dear all:
"I see," said the Irishman, "that you claim to be an atheist. So, tell
me: are you a protestant atheist -- or a catholic atheist?"

Let us say that tomorrow at the clinic, and of my own free will, I'll be
having my sex change operation -- and will be transformed to become
"Roberta".
And let's say that tomorrow at the exact same time on the adjacent
operating table, Teena (also based on free will) will have a parallel
operation -- to be transformed and become "Tim".
As backdrop, in the same breath, let us not forget emerging (and may I
be permitted to denote them as desperate and rudderless) societal trends
having to do with (re)definition of self, and much of society, on many
levels:

Postoperatively, as all of us regain our respective breaths in recovery
(and drop out of our respective fantastical dreams of "Dancing With The
Stars"), it strikes me that we ought to synthesize from Teena's clear
illuminations and Keith's most recent clarification post, look forward,
and ask: how can we best develop and encourage the best conditions to
advance and evolve our design list to "self-manage a transcendent
conversation"?
Without aiming to be (or seem to be) trite or vacuous, I think the
beginning of the most authentic answer to this question is not "Yes, but
...", but: "Yes, and ...".
From this: "What," we may usefully ask from our horizontal recovery
room beds, "is transcendence?"
Best wishes,
Bob Este, Ph.D / VectorRDI Ltd. / Cochrane, Alberta, Canada
P.S. -- thank you, Phil, for your comments. You are more than welcome to
freely post, utilize and even distribute the text from my initial e-mail
... with full attribution, of course ... :-) :-) :-)
