You are warmly invited to the first two of this year's Wort Lecture
Series to be given by Professor George Lewis of Columbia University on
Monday 21st and Wednesday 23rd November.
The lectures start at 5.00 pm in the Robin Orr Recital Room at
Cambridge University's Music Faculty.
* Lecture 1: Monday 21st November - "Black Liveness Matters: Kareal
Capek meets Blind Tom"
* Lecture 2: Wednesday 23rd November - "From Network Bands to
Ubiquitous Computing: Rich Gold and the Social Aesthetics of
Interactivity"
Prof. Lewis is an extremely distinguished composer who has worked with
ensembles such as the American Composers Orchestra, the International
Contemporary Ensemble, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio
Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, and the San Francisco Contemporary Music
Players amongst many others. He is also a pioneer in the field of
computer music and, as a trombonist, recorded with artists as diverse as
Count Basie, Gil Evans and Laurie Anderson.
Both lectures will be followed by a wine reception in the foyer, when
you will have a chance to talk to George Lewis further.
