Music at the University of Leeds has a vibrant research culture and a record of high-quality achievement, boasting distinguished scholars and practitioners.
The University of Leeds is a member of the WRoCAH Doctoral Training Partnership, which includes the Universities of Sheffield and York. Doctoral researchers with the WRoCAH develop their employability skills with a cohort, learning and networking with each other in a unique and tailored training programme. The strength of Arts and Humanities research across the White Rose Consortium gives doctoral researchers an unparalleled opportunity to realise their career aspirations within and outside academia.
Please note that WRoCAH AHRC Studentships are only available to students from the UK or European Union. Applications cannot be accepted from students liable to pay fees at the overseas rate. Successful applicants will receive payment to cover their UK/EU tuition fees at Research Council rates and, for eligible students, a maintenance grant (£14,296 in 2016/17).
Before applying for a WRoCAH AHRC Studentship to study at the School of Music, you must have submitted a research degree application form to the University of Leeds. Your application to the University should be submitted by the end of December 2016 so that it can be considered with enough time before the WRoCAH AHRC studentship scheme deadline. Applicants will be expected to hold a minimum of a UK 2:1 honours degree at undergraduate level, or equivalent.
The closing date for the WRoCAH studentships is 1st February 2017 (5pm GMT). Studentships will start in October 2017. Details of the WRoCAH AHRC Studentships scheme, as well as an application form can be found at:
