Thank you for the replies to my question.
In summary it appears that in an application of straight-forward Deming Regression, the solution will always pass through (mean 1, mean 2).
Where Weighted Deming Regression is applied, the solution will pass through (weighted mean 1, weighted mean 2). This was neatly shown in an example by Edmund Wilkes of UCLH - thank you.
