Dear Ken, Mike and all,
I disagree with Ken’s narrow administrative view of research. I call it ‘administrative’ because it seems to me that it is an artefact of the administrative educational environment from which it originated. Broadly, I am sympathetic to Mike’s view.
However, rather than dive in yet again to this well worn subject, those of you interested in the topic, and my views on it, can find the long series of contributions I have made to debates on this list.
Go to the list on jiscmail, type in my email address in the author email, and the word research in the subject., and you will find contributions going back to 2002.
