Dear All,
I'm teaching undergraduate 'design methodology', which we distinguish it
from research methods or design research.
We believe that a good or 'correct' research methods or research in market,
consumer or the design object itseld did not contribute directly to lead
someone become creative and innovative in creating or making any design.
There're still singularity in personal gifted or talented so called
designer that goes beyond the collected data, the analysis of
data/information and so forth. Some new ideas spark burst out in mind,
while the designer working on it, not in the static awaiting the data
analysis or 'findings' to give an insight or answer.
While the knowledge gather by making design contributes to the embodied
skills of designers, but the reseach methods itself will never give or show
the answer to the designer.
designer need to be aware of the 'methodology' meta + hodos + logos, but
not in the sense as methods , as a set of procedure, a restricted step by
step way of doing, making, creating things called designing.
Designing in its core is still intuitively-driven by the
form-content-context relates to design itself.
