Dear Colleagues
It looks like there will be a terrific range of workshops at the upcoming
50th Design Research Society Conference in Brighton, UK.
We will be hosting a workshop focussing on models for the inclusion of
design and creative disciplines in interdisciplinary education, and
approaches to assessment. We will be asking "What is good assessment for
interdisciplinary learning?" in the context of our recently completed
project and tool, Multiple Measures.
Details are below, and the link to register for the workshop (WS19 -
completing the list for Mon 27th) is via http://www.drs2016.org/workshops/
We are looking forward to an afternoon of interdisciplinary exploration +
discussion with designers, design students and researchers, and design
educators. We will then continue to the Opening Reception for DRS2016 and
all that will follow ...
Please do come and join us!

MULTIPLE MEASURES: DESIGN IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY MIX
*Workshop Organis**er:* Kate Tregloan, Monash University, Australia
*Date and Time:* Monday 27th June, 14.00 - 18.00
*Multiple Measures* is an Innovation & Development research project funded
by the Australian Office for Learning and Teaching. The project asserts
that the students of today are the researchers of tomorrow. Developing the
competencies of next-generation designers and researchers is itself a
research challenge, requiring new paradigms and approaches to pedagogy. A
bespoke online library of interdisciplinary (ID) teaching approaches, and
the tools for exploring it, have been developed through the project to
assist educators to develop and review ID assessment design. Participants
in the Multiple Measures workshop will leave with a broader understanding
of the values associated with ID practice; a range of ID pedagogical
objectives and approaches currently being offered to students; and new
skills and tools to locate their own teaching and research opportunities in
this context.
