At the 50th Anniversary DRS 2016 Conference in Brighton, on Monday June 27,
Lois Frankel (Canada), Jenny Darzentas (Greece), Lucas Lacerda (Canada), and Ellen Hrinivich (Canada)
are hosting a day long workshop to explore complex and layered sensory experiences in the urban environment. This workshop experiments with new ways to sensitize designers for developing insights that can contribute to meaningful urban design interventions. Participants will interpret their urban sensory journeys into taste compositions and multi-modal scenarios.
The workshop draws from our ongoing sensory design research including multi-sensory studies and sound walks. Participants' sensitizing explorations will focus on the tactile, auditory, and olfactory experiences that are part of Brighton's sensory aesthetics.
The objective is to influence design researchers, and eventually citizens, (social) entrepreneurs and policy makers to design future experiences based on multi-sensory immersion in the present.
We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
