PhD Studentships in Service Design Using Networked Images for the Community
The School of the Arts, English and Drama at Loughborough University is pleased to announce four fully funded PhD studentships. The studentships will be paid for a period of up to three years, starting in October 2016, and will cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate, and provide a tax-free stipend of 14,296 British Pounds *.
The School offers an exciting interdisciplinary research environment and we welcome the submission of high-quality proposals that have the potential to make a substantive contribution to research within the School. Among several research areas, of particular interest to the Service Design Mini Centre for Doctoral Training are proposals that address this research theme:
Service Design Using Networked Images for the Community
Supervisors: Dr. Kathy Pui Ying Lo, Dr. Marco Bohr
Description: This PhD research will aim to increase quality of life through service design using networked images for a particular target audience in the community. This research study will not only apply service design to improve real-life experiences, but also push the limit of what networked images can do for people. The potential result can be a social innovation that offers a service system based on networked images. Quality of life for the community can be interpreted as (but not limited to): empowerment, sharing, emotional support, mutual help, or mutual growth etc. Applicants need to specify particular target audience in the community for this research, and the potential impact of this research. By combining service design with networked images, this PhD research project opens up exciting opportunities to contribute new knowledge across service design and visual media, as well as to explore how service design and networked images can benefit the community. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Dr. Kathy Pui Ying Lo at [log in to unmask] for advice.
Deadline for applications: 6th June 2016.
Questions about the research proposal and the suitability of research topics in relation to service design can be directed to Dr. Kathy Pui Ying Lo (Academic Lead of Service Design Mini Centre for Doctoral Training) at [log in to unmask]
