We have recently published some new guidance, Developing a Collections Information Policy<http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archives-sector/documenting-collections.htm>, and are now asking for comment to help shape its final content and format.
'Developing a Collections Information Policy' is written for anyone working in an archive service who is tasked to document their own service's approach to recording and enhancing information about collections held at their archive service, from the point of accessioning onwards.
The guidance is not a template, but should help archivists develop a policy which:
* reflects the purpose of their archive service and the environment in which they operate
* demonstrates why collections information activities are important
* helps archive services meet the Archive Service Accreditation Standard (under requirement 2.3.1 Collections Information Policy)
We would be particularly grateful for any comments about content in the following sections:
* Why have a Collections Information Policy?
* Policy Scope and Content
Comments should be emailed to us at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by 1 July 2016, marked 'Collections Information Policy feedback'.
Many thanks in advance.
