Subject: Data sharing consultation
Dear colleagues,
Yesterday the government announced a consultation on new data sharing proposals:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/better-use-of-data-in-government
These include proposals for ONS to have greater access to government data, and also data sharing for public service delivery and to prevent fraud and error.
The RSS is holding a joint event with the Nuffield Foundation, ESRC and CLOSER to help the research and official statistics communities better understand the proposals. The event is on the morning of 17th March and details are here: https://www.statslife.org.uk/events/events-calendar/eventdetail/632/-/data-sharing-consultation-event
You are most welcome to attend. Please do spread the word about the event.
best,
Hetan
