Dear all,
I kindly invite you to participate to The Sustainable Energy for All by Design Conference<http://www.lensesconference.polimi.it/>, Cape Town 28 – 30 September 2016.
Attendance to the conference is FREE and proceedings will be published with ISBN with Creative Commons license.
Deadline for submission of extended abstracts is 15 March 2016.
The Sustainable Energy For All by Design Conference 2016 is a trans disciplinary platform for sharing the latest knowledge and experiences in sustainable energy for all system development and dissemination, from the design, research, education and practice perspectives. This conference is promoted and organised as the conclusive event of the LeNSes<http://www.lenses.polimi.it> project, funded by the EU under the Edulink II program, that aims at the development and diffusion of capacity and curricula on System Design for Sustainable Energy for All (SD4SEA).
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology, an active member of the LeNSes project, is honoured to host this important event.
The conference promises to be an enriching, sharing and inclusive international platform for researchers, educators and practitioners from all disciplines. From design to engineering, education to architecture, economics to policy-making, the conference will create a vibrant and forward-thinking space in which to diffuse new knowledge and share practices and experiences in the ever-increasing need to enable access to sustainable renewable energy, for all.
Papers will be presented alongside workshops for practice and postgraduates, and an exhibition of successful community and industry projects.
THEMES
The conference is structured around four main themes that include
1. Research on Sustainable Energy for All: new advancements and knowledge
contributions on sustainable energy systems design and implementation.
2. Education on Sustainable Energy for All: experiences of teaching & learning on sustainable energy systems (in higher education and lifelong learning).
3. Practice on Sustainable Energy for All: best practices of sustainable energy systems.
4. Dilemma - Design, development and sustainability: Where are the challenges? What constitutes ‘access’? What are the commercial potentials? How does education play a role and who are the learners/students? Where and what are the emerging technologies and training opportunities? Who are the actors and what are their roles in responsibilities for sustainable energy for all?

LeNSes is a multi-polar Network for curricula and lifelong learning capacity development focused on System Design for Sustainable Energy for All. It is a 3 year project (Oct 2013 - Oct 2016) funded by the European Commission (ACP-EU Edulink II), involving Universities in Europe and 4 in Africa. LeNSes’ ambition is to promote a shared disciplinary ground on System Design for Sustainable Energy for all, focused on the promising model of Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS) and the Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) models.
