Thanks both Mark and Jamie, will have a look at these suggestions and will
let the group know if I dig up anything else.
Not so interested in schools data, which isn't necessarily repeat visits
from students as you say, but more interested in what reasons other
visitors have for going back to a place they've already seen. I'm guessing
some combination of the following: didn't get round everything last time
and felt they missed something, it was a nice location (e.g. for a picnic)
or good meeting spot (e.g. good cafe or nice place to spend time with
friends), they are local and want to show visitors around, or there is a
changing programme of exhibitions or events (perhaps a new guide/app could
be in this list too). For some, a specialist or particular interest might
draw them back to a favourite place.
Would be useful to find out if there are other reasons, and the degree to
which any of them have an impact on visitor numbers.
