Identity and place

Our Chief Executive and Keeper, Jeff James has blogged for the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce about the role of archives in identity and place.

Jeff highlights that many archives have helped communities to embrace change by firmly placing their history, heritage and identity at the heart of urban regeneration.

Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund

The next round of the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association (MA), and worth £500,000, is now open for applications focusing on innovative, time-limited collections work, outside the scope of an organisations's core resources.

The MA is keen to fund projects at an early stage of development where it may be difficult to guarantee tangible outcomes, but organisations that are funded can become part of a network to develop ideas, share knowledge and build a legacy.

Deadline for initial applications is 23 March 2016
