Dear Fernando,
A small but significant point for us with a connection to Lancaster. That treatywith Portugal is seen by many as being with Lancaster rather than England ( with John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster with assistance from his daughter Phillippa).
The treaty is apparently one of the reasons it is important the Queen of England to also be the Duke of Lancaster (as well as all that land and income). One of the other reasons, I hear, is apparently there are two legal systems in England (the Lancaster one has burning witches and rolling people downhill in a barrel with nails hammered through it, and more importantly, perhaps, it applied to all Crown land over the whole of England). It implies some interesting design issues relating to the UK legal system.
Best wishes,
Terence

Oldest alliance in the world.
"The Anglo-Portuguese Alliance (or Aliança Luso-Britânica), ratified at the Treaty of Windsor in 1386, between England (succeeded by the United Kingdom) and Portugal is the oldest alliance in the world that is still in force — with the earliest treaty dating back to the Anglo-Portuguese Treaty of 1373.” – Wikipedia
Apologies accepted. :-)
Cheers,
