Calling all publishers out there. One of my team members is undertaking some research on the realities of publisher policies in the world of e-these. I have pasted in the details of the project and would be really grateful for any contribution from our commercial partners in the scholarly communications arena.
Many thanks, Fiona

The University of Surrey is conducting research on editorial policy regarding the publication of material derived from openly accessible e-theses. As part of that research and based on your role in academic publishing (either as an editor or publisher) you have been invited to complete a short survey.
The survey is designed to gather a snapshot of related editorial policies and practices, from as many reputable journals and/or editors of reputable journals as possible. The findings will be made publicly available, and actively shared with all UK libraries, and research institutions.
Your assistance will form part of a broader effort to tailor Universities theses submission policy, so as to be representative of and fair to both PhD students and research organisations.
The survey should take only a couple minutes to complete. Please click following link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/YYRRB77 if you publish papers or https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T7WDS6C for monograph publishers.
Your personal identification will not be shared in any way, and would only be used by members of this research committee in the event clarification is needed or additional questions arise with respect to your survey responses.
Background
It is increasingly the case that open access to research outputs includes open access to electronic theses. A large number of UK universities now require PhD students to submit an electronic copy of their theses and to grant open access rights (though restrictions may be requested). The University of Surrey is no exception in this regard.
A number of concerns have since arisen, however, concerning the effect open access e-theses (OAETs) have on future publishing opportunities, and specifically whether or not OAETs are considered 'pre-published'. Though there have been a number of studies premised on survey's similar to this one, we are looking to gain an up-to-date understanding of current publishing trends and policies concerning the publication of material derived from OAETs.
