This new full-time post is available from 1st March 2016 on a fixed term basis for 24 months.
The University of Exeter is a Russell Group University in the top one percent of institutions globally. In the last few years we have invested strategically to deliver more than 350 million pounds worth of new facilities across our campuses with plans for further significant investment between now and 2016.
The University of Exeter Medical School wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to support the work of PenCLAHRC, the National Institute of Health Research’s Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care in the South West Peninsula, directed by Professor Stuart Logan. This NIHR funded post is available from 4th January 2016 for 2 years.
The successful applicant will work within the PenCLAHRC Evidence Synthesis Team to promote and apply evidence synthesis techniques in a number of key areas of health services research. The Evidence Synthesis team is a dynamic group of health services researchers who are involved in producing systematic reviews to inform locally relevant evidence based practice and play an integral role in the identification and prioritisation of research projects for development within the South West peninsula.
The post holder will be required to contribute to evidence synthesis projects and to provide advice and guidance to other teams within PenCLAHRC, thus building skills and capacity within the Peninsula in this methodological area.
Candidates will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the synthesis of quantitative and qualitative information to work within established research programmes. The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be a nationally recognised authority in evidence synthesis and will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methods. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively and demonstrate the ability to supervise the work of others and act as a team leader when required. Whilst the post is based in Exeter, it will be necessary to travel within the South West region to facilitate Evidence Synthesis Team led clinics and support the PenCLAHRC prioritisation process. Furthermore, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the increased visibility of the Evidence Synthesis Team in Plymouth, in liaison with PenCLAHRC colleagues.
