medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
apologies for cross-posting
I have just posted to my online archive eight pages of photos from
Canterbury: the cathedral exterior, interior, stained glass, cloister,
and chapter house, as well as the water tower and ruins of the Infirmary
hall, cloister, and chapel, and the dormitory/herb garden. Away from the
cathedral itself are the Norman Stairs and court hall, and the museum
(home of the "Canterbury Cross" and a nice Becket pilgrimage badge,
among other things). All can be accessed from the Canterbury page:

A lot of digging and indexing (as well as other projects) have delayed
this new material. Even so, though, there are still a few things that I
could not label very well. On the page for "Other Priory Buildings", can
anyone provide a date for the striated and lozenged columns at the end
of row 2? I think I remember that they were supposed to be from the C11
cathedral, but I did not write the information down, and I have been
unable to confirm it. And at the end of the same page is a passage that
I have simply called "passage" (creative, no?), for which I have no more
information. I shot it because I liked it, but it would be nice to know
just what it is!
best to all,
Genevra
