My doctoral student has identified - through a literature review and a subsequent pilot with learners - the following categories of
decision making patterns during the graphic design creative process:
1. Conscious actions or thoughts
2. Problem solving activity
3. Hunches and presuppositions or esoteric knowledge
4. Solution focused strategy
5. Problem focused strategy
6. Linear process
7. Complicated process
8. User empathy or human centered approach
I see some potential overlap in some of the above, but more importantly we would like to refine them and even add to them if need be.
Any related suggestions - ideally accompanied with relevant references to readings - would be welcome.
