Hi everyone,
We used to have coin payment facilities on our 3M self service machines which facilitated small amount (<£10) fines payment via SIP and the Innovative fines payment web service (BTW, we are still using Millennium not Sierra). For fines greater than £10 this was facilitated by cash or card payment at the library support desk.
However, since April 2012 we have provided a separate, web based fines payment service utilising the WPM generic card payment gateway API and the Innovative fines payment web service - this came from a similar idea used by Leeds University and presented at EIUG 2010. Not long after it's introduction all our self service coin payment facilities were withdrawn when our 3M self service machines were replaced with 2CQR totems.
I presented an overview of our on-line fines payment system at EIUG 2012. I also presented a brief update on how our system was performing within another presentation I gave at EIUG 2014 on a pre-payment ILL system and how we were using Microsoft ForeFront Identity Manager to maintain Millennium patron records, both via the Innovative patron web service (fines payment is a sub-set of this web service).
I have attached PDF versions of both the above EIUG presentations.
If anyone wishes to contact me to discuss how how our system is implemented and things to be wary of, then please phone me at the number below.
Regards,
Paul Thornton.
